ANUSARA YOGA with SPECIAL GUEST INSTRUCTOR

Join us for an All Levels evening class with Certified Anusara Yoga instructor Noah Maze. Noah comes to us from Southern California enroute to teach a weekend of yoga in Vancouver–experience Noah in a small intimate setting at Coastal Bliss Yoga in Tofino.
All Levels Welcome!

After 5 months of yoga classes, we are ready to have our Grand Opening/ Open House. Come check out Tofino’s first and only yoga studio!!

Whether you practice yoga regularly or you’ve never done it before, we welcome everyone to see what it’s all about.

Check back soon for more info on our FREE classes on July 3rd and 4th. These classes will be first come first served, so be sure to arrive early.

starts June 19th: Saturday 6:30pm-8:30pm Sacred Heart Chakra Dance with Dionne

This class begins in a seated circle to center and join the group together, then Dionne and her music flow help lead you into your individual dance experience. Expect to freely move and dance to your own rhythm and creativity. Class ends in a closing circle. Sacred Heart Chakra Dance’s philosophy is closely related to that of Yoga, but the physical aspect of the class is not structured like most yoga classes. No mats or props are used for this class.

Welcome to the alchemical transformational journey of Sacred Dance. Open to the divine flow of Shakti, receive the Grace of Shiva, expand through the light body and in ecstasy we shall celebrate our return to LOVE!

Sacred dance encompasses all movement that expresses or enhances spiritual experiences.

Shakti from Sanskrit shak – “to be able,” meaning sacred force or empowerment, is the primordial cosmic energy and represents the dynamic forces that move through the entire universe. Shakti is the concept, or personification, of divine feminine creative power, sometimes referred to as ‘The Great Divine Mother’ in Hinduism. On the earthly plane, Shakti most actively manifests through female embodiment and fertility, though it is also present in males in its potential, unmanifest form. Not only is the Shakti responsible for creation, it is also the agent of all change. Shakti is cosmic existence as well as liberation, its most significant form being the Kundalini Shakti, a mysterious psychospiritual force.

Shiva (also Siva); Sanskrit meaning “Auspicious one”, is a major Hindu deity, and the Destroyer or transformer of the Trimurti, the Hindu Trinity of the primary aspects of the divine. In the Shaiva tradition of Hinduism, Shiva is seen as the Supreme Being. In the Smarta tradition, he is regarded as one of the five primary forms of God.

Great for any age, slower paced and gentle!

While yoga in itself focuses on muscles and proper muscle alignment, restorative yoga is all about restful postures and is designed to “re-boot” your nervous system and balance out your body.  Your muscles are to remain quiet in the restorative method.  Practicing this form of yoga will give immediate results by lowering your blood pressure and heart rate, loosen up joints and ease bones.   Restorative Yoga will help to keep your endocrine system in check and even boost the immune system.

Restorative Yoga is a wonderful way to close out your day and can be helpful in reducing insomnia as it is very relaxing for the body as well as the mind. All poses aim to reduce stress and they are all practiced using props such as a bolster or rolled blanket, blocks, cushions, a wall, a chair, yoga straps, eye pillows, etc.   The idea is comfort and relaxation and staying in a pose for many minutes.  Therefore props aid in making you comfortable and to be able to hold the position for any length of time.

Yoga Pose: Viparita Karani (Legs up the Wall)

Benefits: Putting the legs up the wall is a very gentle way to do an inversion. It brings blood to the head and heart; relieves tired or cramped legs and feet; gently stretches the back of the legs, front torso, and the back of the neck; relieves mild backache, and calms the mind.

Viparita Karani “destroys” old age and death. “You will become an Adept in all the worlds and will not perish even at world dissolution (pralaya)” (Gheranda Samhita 3.36).
