AcroYoga Therapeutics Playshop

Friday, August 5th, 2011

AcroYoga blends the spiritual wisdom of yoga, the loving kindness of Thai massage, and the dynamic power of Acrobatics. These three ancient lineages blend to form this practice that cultivates trust, connection, and playfulness.

The deeper we send our roots, the higher we can rise. In this workshop we’ll ease into the practice of AcroYoga with a grounding in the fundamentals. Working together, we’ll develop trust & communication, and strike the balance between strong support & true relaxation. Building up from this firm base of connectivity we’ll guide the body to let go of tension while finding the flow of basing and flying, giving and receiving, inhaling and exhaling. Practice will include asana, partner acrobatics, gentle therapeutic flying and soothing Thai massage.

Come support and be supported. Bring a friend or meet a new one here.

April’s 30-Day Challenge came at the perfect time for me. I have been trying to create a regular yoga practice over the past year and in doing so have noticed a decrease in the neck and hip pain I often experience. (As a writer, I sit at a computer for most of the day. There is nothing harder on the body.) The Challenge confirmed for me that, health-wise, yoga is one of the best things I can do at this stage of my life.  As I approach 50, continuing to develop my flexibility and strength, as well as finding time in the day for calm, meditation, and reflection, is invaluable. The Challenge allowed me to experience different styles of yoga and to spend time with three caring, thoughtful teachers, all of whom taught me very much. The Challenge also helped move my practice to a new level. Finally moving into the full expression of the bridge pose was a happy day! -Adrienne Mason

I went into the 30-day yoga challenge with the expectation that i would work at sharpening and strengthening my practice; which definitely happened. what i didn’t expect was that i would also sharpen and strengthen my mind, off the mat. it was the perfect opportunity and method to dive deeper inwards, with the benefit of increased physical fitness.Paul Jarvis

Integrating Ayurveda in Your Daily Life: A Workshop with Savita Leah Young

Saturday, April 16th, 2011

On the mat, we engage body, mind and spirit to maintain vitality, clarity and balance. And sometimes its just not enough. The stresses of daily living compromise our immune, digestive and nervous systems and environmental toxins tax our respiratory, reproductive and elimination systems. As we age, we loose vitality, clarity, strength and endurance. Life is a challenge!

Ayurveda offers the wisdom of yoga off the mat. By applying these 5000 year old principles, we create lifestyle adjustments and supports necessary for the optimum function of our body, mind and spirit; giving an opportunity for the body to heal, the mind to clear and the spirit to soar.

Learn about daily, seasonal and lifetime cycles and how to maximize the elements in support of these cycles. Discover the importance of the digestive system in maintaining optimum health, thus ensuring vitality, strength and flexibility on all levels. In this introductory workshop we will learn about the foundations of Ayurveda and students will discover their own innate balance and potential for imbalances as well as how to create a personal Diet and Lifestyle Plan.

Date and Time: April 24th 1-4pm

Cost: $65.00 plus HST

Location: Coastal Bliss Yoga Studio
