Yoga Class Descriptions
Level 1 Hatha:
This is the ideal beginner class. Focus is on learning the foundational poses to build strength, increase flexibility, and foster greater focus. Taught in a gentle Hatha Yoga style this class always includes some Restorative Yoga to encourage deep relaxation. Suitable for pre or post natal students.
Level 1 Vinyasa Flow:
In this class students will learn all of the key elements of sun salutations and the foundational postures of yoga. Students will also learn how to use dynamic movement to link postures together in sequences known as vinyasas. Special attention is brought to breath awareness and alignment principles. Suitable for enthusiastic beginners.
Morning Vinyasa:
Welcome the day and awaken the body with gentle stretches, moving through flowing sequences connected by the breath, and some intermediate poses. Suitable for all levels, variations and modifications given.
All Levels Vinyasa Flow:
This class is open to all levels and modifications will be offered. Steady pace with intermediate poses. Focus is on breath synchronized movement to encourage greater body awareness and increased energy.
Level 2 Vinyasa Flow:
This is an intermediate class for students interested in trying new poses and expanding their practice. Some previous yoga experience recommended. Inversions and arm balances will be explored.
Level 3 Vinyasa Flow: Full Expression
This fun and dynamic class is perfect for strong practitioners who are comfortable working in a Level 2 class and are ready to play their edge with Advanced posture sequences and a faster paced vinyasa style. Minimal instruction will be given for the basic poses.
Power Flow:
Power yoga is a fun and vigorous style of yoga that is taught in a continuous flow style to increase energy and vitality while building strength and stamina. The emphasis on breath initiated movements helps to cultivate greater focus and attention while the mindful progression of postures allows for deeper opening and increased flexibility. This class is open to All Levels but may not be suitable for the absolute beginner due to it’s faster pace. Modifications will be offered to suit individual students where possible while allowing everyone to move together as a group.
All Levels Moving Meditation: Moving Into Stillness
This all levels class includes simple flowing asana sequences, restorative posture work, pranayama (breath exerciese), mantra (sacred sound), mudra (intentional gesture) and seated meditation. The focus is on creating balance through the five subtle bodies or Koshas- physical, energetic, mental/emotional, intellectual, and spiritual.
All Levels Anusara-Inspired™:
A fun, heart-felt and often sweaty class. This class is designed for all levels but is not suggested for the raw beginner. Variations on certain poses are given to challenge the more advanced student.
Anusara Yoga is a system of Hatha Yoga that combines asana technique, yoga philosophy and good company.
Level 2 Anusara-Inspired™:
A more challenging, sweaty and heartfelt practice for continuing and intermediate students.

Yin Yoga:
In this class you should be prepared for deep postures with a meditative focus. Suitable for all levels of students except pregnant women or those with recent muscle strain or joint injury.
Based on the Chinese meridian theory Yin yoga is a practice focused on creating length and opening within the connective tissues of the body.
**Due to the nature and focus of Yin Yoga, it is not appropriate for pregnant woman or those with recent muscle strain or joint injury.
All Levels Ashtanga:
An introductory class to the Ashtanga Primary Series. Students will be guided through these flowing postures with thorough instruction. Students will be introduced to energy locks (bhandas) and breathing techniques (pranayama); both will be used to increase the quality of their practice. This class is perfect for beginners who are prepared to sweat.
All Levels Fundamentals Ashtanga:
Students will be led through the standing sequence and half the seated postures of the Primary Series of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, coordinating each movement with the breath and drawing attention to the bandhas (areas of muscular activation). The class will move at a vigorous flowing pace, however beginners are always welcome and modifications will be made if necessary. This class is not ideal for anyone with major physical injury, nor for pregnant women who do not already have an established Ashtanga practice.

Mysore-style Ashtanga:
A self-practice supervised by a qualified teacher, where the student learns the correct vinyasa count, as well as the correct sequencing of the postures. Each individual student is thus able to learn at his or her own pace, growing the practice slowly. As the sequence is memorized and the techniques become understood by the body as well as the mind, the practice becomes a moving meditation. All levels are welcome and it is an ideal class for beginners interested in learning Ashtanga Vinyasa. (Offered every Friday 6:30am-8:15am, latest start time is 7:30am)
Mysore-style is the traditional way to the learn the Ashtanga system. The name refers back to the source of the tradition, the city of Mysore in South India where Sri K. Pattabhi Jois established his home studio.
Restorative Yoga:
This class is suitable for all levels. Restorative yoga is a gentle, therapeutic style of yoga where props are used to support the body in restful poses. This nurturing practice focuses on restoring the central nervous system and promotes conscious relaxation.
Pre-Natal/ Restorative Yoga:
Exteremely gentle yoga suitable for all levels. Exploring meditative movement, deep relaxation, visualization and mudra (intentional gesture) meditation.
This class will help women safely enjoy yoga throughout pregnancy. Yoga Instructor, Dawn, is also expecting a baby.
Meditation:
Please join Tracy Crocker on Sunday Mornings 9:30-10:30 for group meditation. This sit is open to all silent meditation practices. Tracy holds this space to create a supportive environment ideal for meditation with others.
A donation of $2 is requested to support the space, create a library and purchase tools.

Sacred Heart Chakra Dance:
New class beginning Saturday June 19th with Dionne.
Welcome to the alchemical transformational journey of Sacred Dance. Open to the divine flow of Shakti, receive the Grace of Shiva, expand through the light body and in ecstasy we shall celebrate our return to LOVE!
This class begins in a seated circle to center and create intention then Dionne and her music flow help lead you into your dance experience. Expect to freely move and dance to your own rhythm and creativity. Class ends in a closing circle. Sacred Heart Chakra Dance’s philosophy is closely related to that of Yoga, but the physical aspect of the class is not structured like most yoga classes. No mats or props are used for this class.
