Experience, Training, and Inspirations: I was first introduced to yoga early in life at the age of 4, spending summer vacations as a child at Kripalu Ashram until the age of 11. I’ve been fortunate to be in the presence of and receive blessings from Swami Shri Kripalvanandji (Bapaji) and Yogi Amrit Desai (Gurudev). I was inspired by Bapaji and the love he carried in his heart and soul for all.

My experiences with yoga as a child gave me a strong foundation in this Spiritual science. I’ve been living in Tofino for the past 17 years healing myself from within; spending time in nature and developing spiritual awareness. I have been living yoga my whole life.

I am trained and certified as a Usui and Karuna Reiki Master Teacher with 16 years experience practicing and teaching Reiki. I’ve studied voice and have 12 years experience in toning and sound healing. Completed courses in Sound and Chakra Therapy with the American Institute of Holistic Theology, and participated in many sound/voice workshops. I have embraced sound healing as a self-study and practice.

It has been my ongoing practices of daily stretches, Reiki, meditation, toning and chanting that has gifted me with great healing, spiritual knowledge and connection. This is my yoga now.

“Yoga is the Spirit, not form… The experience of oneness is yoga.” (Yogi Amit Desai)

I have created a class called Vocal Yoga which includes exercises to open the throat and body and develop the voice. We enjoy toning, chanting, sound meditation and healing; and a bit of singing just for fun. The voice is the bridge between heaven and earth, it is the place where Shiva and Shakti meet and dance. Using the voice in toning and chanting balances the body, awakens the heart, cleanses the soul, and connects one to Higher Self and Spirit.

I enjoy teaching vocal yoga because…

It is a way for me to share this beautiful experience with others. I feel compelled to share this practice as it helps to raise the vibration of an individual and thus affects our sacred Earth as a whole.

Coastal bliss means to me…

A community of individuals committed to personal growth, health and Spiritual evolution.

Health and wellness means to me…

A state of wholeness, balance, acceptance, and love.

My philosophical outlook is… Life was meant to be a Musical. “Nada Brahma” (Sound is God)

Mada teaches Vocal Yoga once a month at Coastal Bliss. Check here for dates.
